How to become a member of the National Speakers Association
The National Speakers Association is a place where you can be a part of a like-minded community of speaking professionals; a community where the pursuit of knowledge and the sharing of ideas is a way of life. NSA, founded in 1973, is now a community of more than 4,000 professional speakers who continue to pursue a higher level in their careers. It's a vast universe of learning opportunities, friendship, participation and growth. With NSA, you're never in business alone. There are many benefits of membership in the National Speakers Association and the National Speakers Association of Indiana. All NSAI chapter members must be members of NSA. Once you are a member of NSA you will benefit from joining NSAI. Meetings and educational opportunities are set each year. The specific dates and events are listed on the Events page. We feature a professional educational seminar at most meetings and offer opportunities for members to showcase their presentations and receive feedback from all attendees.
Throughout the year, we hold additional events of value to speakers and those who utilize professional speakers.
NSA Indiana Membership:
Professional Membership in NSA Indiana REQUIRES membership in National Speakers Association.
Professional Member
Requirements:
- Member of the National Speakers Association (NSA)
- Option 1: You have received compensation for at least 20 presentations in the past 12 months. (or)
- Option 2: You have presented at least 20 times to audiences of 15 or more as a part of your salaried position in the past 12 months. (or)
- Option 3: You made at least $25,000 presenting in the past 12 months.

Chapter Costs:
- Indiana Chapter Fee is $97.00
- National fees are paid directly to NSA
Academy Membership
Requirements:
- Must be Academy for Professional Speaking membership thru NSA.
Academy is for individuals working toward meeting criteria to become a professional member.

NSA Indiana Dues Schedule:
Membership in NSA Indiana REQUIRES membership in National Speakers Association.
Membership to NSA: Indiana runs from September 1 through August 31. Dues payable by August 31 of each year:

Q - Do I have to join the National Speakers Association before joining the Indiana chapter?
A - Yes, we have a charter from the National organization and these are the requirements
Q - Is there a separate application for the Indiana chapter?
A - Yes, and it is filled out once you get verification of your National membership.
Q - What are the costs to join NSA-Indiana?
A - Yearly membership is $97 plus member fee for individual meetings and tele-seminars
Q - Do I have to join to attend the meetings?
A - No, you can attend as a guest anytime and pay guest rate.
Q - Do speakers get speaking engagements because of their membership?
A - Many times meeting planners and speakers bureaus check the National Speakers Association Directory to verify the credentials. NSA is a professional organization not a trade association.
Q – Is NSA a professional society or a trade association? What is the difference?
A – NSA is a professional society. A Professional society exists to advance the profession through education and enhancement of the practitioners, not through Trade Expos and Lobbying for better Legislation. Trade Associations are primarily focused on getting business.
